I'm retired Army and a hardcore scheduler. Even in retirement it helps me keep my mind clear and focused on the things I want to accomplish.

I'm a big time schedule person. I have a general schedule for every day--it's not set in stone, but it gives me a nice guideline. I blogged about it recently here: http://nurturemama.blogspot.com/2009/06/summer-schedule.html

Thanks for these ideas about scheduling busy days. This is something I can improve on!

I have to write out a schedule of busy days or else it all falls apart. If I know what has to get done that day and write it down, it won't feel bad if other little things fall thru the cracks that can really wait until tomorrow. The hardest part of it all for me is allowing enough time for those little unexpected hitches in my carefully crafted plan. For instance, one morning last week I allowed myself 45 minutes for shower, makeup and hair before we had leave for an appointment. That is usually more than enough time. Well, this particular morning I hadn't scheduled in the time it takes to get pancake syrup off of my floor and my upholstered dining chair! My little darling needed "just a little more" syrup on that last bite of pancake and since he is a "big boy" now, he got it all by himself!! I need to schedule more time for learning to be a big boy, I guess....

I wish I could write a schedule. What makes that part so hard? I don't understand what stops me from just doing it.
